WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The California track & field team posted one of its best outings at a conference meet in recent memory at Kentner Stadium on Friday afternoon, with five Golden Bears earning podium spots, five posting program top-10 entries and three qualifying to Saturday's track finals at the ACC Outdoor Championships.

Shot putter Nick Godbehere earned Cal's first medal of the day with a third-place finish in the event, posting a mark of 18.21m (59-9) for his second-best performance of the season. The Bears later picked up two more medals in the women's competition, as both Lucija Leko (16.80m/55-1.5) and Caisa-Marie Lindfors (16.67m/54-8.25) posted PRs of nearly two feet each and surpassed the previous school record in the event to place second and third, respectively; the old program mark of 16.57m (54-4.75), belonging to alumna Kristin Heaston, had stood for 26 years. Leko's performance also moved her up to No. 2 in Croatian history, while Lindfors rose to No. 7 in Swedish history.

Two Cal jumpers also earned silver medals in their respective events. Freshman Trevor Rogers finished just one inch out of first place in the long jump, surpassing his previous personal best by 9.5 inches for a mark of 7.66m (25-1.75). That competition also featured Riley Knott, who finished fourth with an 11-inch PR of 7.44m (24-5), and Javon Hampton Jr., who earned a spot in the final and finished ninth at 7.18m (23-6.75). In the pole vault, Tyler Burns tied for second with Louisville's Lucas Couron and Virginia Tech's Conner McClure, with all three men posted matching marks of 5.31m (17-5). Parker Terrill also scored for Cal in the event, picking up a point with an eighth-place clearance of 5.06m (16-7.25).

Heptathlete Torre Anderson finished her two days of competition with a significant personal-best point total of 5009, which included a PR of 34.95m (114-8) in the javelin, to finish eighth overall and earn a point.. Yuki Hamachi had a career performance in the women's long jump, recording a PR of 5.91m (19-4.75) to reach the final and earn another three attempts before finishing ninth.

Cal's track athletes posted several outstanding performances, beginning with the women's 100m hurdles. Asjah Atkinson's time of 13.39 was the fastest of all non-heat-winners, advancing her to Saturday's final, while Mari Testa just missed out on qualification but lowered her PR to 13.45 to move into a tie for seventh on the program's all-time list. Teammate Saqqara Ruffin, who also ran 13.45 at The 130th Big Meet two weeks ago, recorded the second-fastest time of her career at 13.59.

In the men's 110m hurdles, Donovan Bradley won his heat by a country mile - .23 seconds – to improve his own career-best time by .16 seconds and earn the auto-Q at 13.59, rising four spots to No. 5 in program history and the fastest time run by a Cal hurdler since Ashtyn Davis in 2017 (13.50). Johnny Goode continued his stellar season by knocking his 400m PR down by .10 seconds to 45.72, fourth-fastest in program history and faster than any man in the competition by .25 seconds, to move on to the final. Freshman Aidan Orias notched his own career-best time in the men's 100m prelims, finishing the race in 10.62 to round out the day for Cal's sprinters. Finally, breakout 800m runner Jayden Hill lowered her PR by over two seconds to 2:05.50, the fastest by a Cal athlete in six years (Rebecca Croft, 2:04.35, 2019) and 10th-fastest in program history.
