STANFORD – The California softball team (30-16, 7-11 ACC) defeated No. 15/16 Stanford (32-9, 11-7 ACC), 10-8, in front of a NCAA record-setting crowd of 13,207 fans on Saturday at Stanford Stadium.
Tianna Bell and
Kaylee Pond led the way for the Golden Bears with two hits and a home run apiece, while Bell accumulated four RBIs.
Elon Butler wasted no time after connecting with the first pitch for her 10th home run of the season to give the Bears momentum. A couple of batters later,
Tianna Bell drove a ball to center field for a two-RBI double, giving Cal a 3-0 advantage.
Kaylee Pond continued the onslaught with a two-run moonshot to right field to provide Cal with a 5-0 lead.
The Cardinal responded in the bottom of the first with a three-run home run by Jade Berry to cut their deficit down to two runs (5-3) after one inning of action.
Bell continued her day with a two-run blast, her team-leading 13th home run of the season, in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-3.
Stanford used a three-run homer from Kyra Chan to narrow its deficit to one at the end of the third inning.
Cal extended its lead in the top of the fourth after scoring three runs, highlighted by two RBI base hits and one sacrifice fly by Bell, to take a 10-4 advantage.
In the fifth inning, the Cardinal added another run to the scoreboard with a solo home run from Joie Economides to trail 10-7 heading into the sixth inning.
Stanford tacked on one final run in the sixth inning as the Bears held onto a 10-8 victory.

Cal will complete its non-conference schedule against Santa Clara on Tuesday to close the six-game road trip.
