Cal Falls In Second Straight Game To Stanford

Bears Look To Close Series On High Note

STANFORD – The California softball team (29-16, 6-11 ACC) dropped the second game of the series to No. 15/16 Stanford (32-8, 11-6 ACC), 9-3, on Friday at Stanford Stadium.

Mika Lee led the way for the Golden Bears after going 3-for-4 on the day after missing the last three games due to injury. After 45 games, Lee holds a team-leading .426 batting average.

The Cardinal came out swinging from the start after taking an early 7-0 lead after three innings of action, capped off with a three-run home run by Caelan Koch in the bottom of the third.

In the fourth inning, Mia Phillips found the gap in left field for an RBI double to get the Bears on the scoreboard. After loading the base in the frame, Cal added two runs to cut its deficit to 7-3.

Stanford extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after loading the bases and scoring two base runners to secure the 9-3 victory.
