WALNUT – Five athletes from the California track & field team kicked off competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday evening, posting impressive results in all three of their events to build momentum for the rest of the week.
 
Antoine Moret started off the night with a seven-second PR in the 3000m steeplechase elite section, placing seventh out of 24 runners with a time of 9:00.46, after which the trio of Amelia Wardle-Stacey, Georgia McCorkle and Sophie Tau each recorded personal bests in the 10,000m elite. Wardle-Stacey's winning time of 34:21.09 was ninth-fastest in Cal history and edged out Guatemala's Sandra Raxon Siquiej by just .31 seconds, while McCorkle placed third at 34:52.70 and Tau fourth at 34:55.86.
 
Charlie Dang, who made his debut in Cal's javelin top-10 list two weeks ago at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, bettered his PR to 64.17m (210-6) to place second in the javelin collegiate competition as the Golden Bears' only field event entry of the day.

A large contingent of Bears will compete Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays, while Garrett MacQuiddy and Justin Pretre will represent Cal in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
