Bears Fall To No.1 UNC

Cal Splits Road Trip

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The California lacrosse team wrapped up its road schedule Sunday with a 21-7 loss at No. 1 North Carolina.

The Golden Bears (6-9, 0-8 ACC) split their final road trip of the season after a nonconference victory at Charlotte on Friday.

UNC scored the game's first six goals, including two by Tar Heels leading scorer Chloe Humphrey. Ashleigh Masterson broke the drought with a pair of first-quarter goals to give her 11 on the season, Cal's first freshman to reach double-digits in scoring this season.

Cal leading scorer Emily Moes scored two goals, both in the second quarter. North Carolina led 17-4 at halftime.

Cal's defense held strong in the fourth quarter and Kennedy Mason, Jane Middleton and Courtney Wong scored the final three goals of the game to close out the scoring.

The Bears return home to California Memorial Stadium on Thursday to close out the regular season against rival and No. 9 Stanford. First draw is set for 4 p.m. PT.
