BERKELEY, Calif. – The California softball team (27-13, 6-8 ACC) dropped the second game of the series to No. 9 Florida State (39-6, 13-1 ACC), 11-3, Saturday afternoon at Levine-Fricke Field.
Tianna Bell and
Elon Butler recorded solo home runs, while Butler was responsible for two RBIs on the day. Bell has now recorded a hit in 19 of her last 20 outings and leads the team with 12 home runs.
In the bottom of the first inning, Butler executed a sacrifice fly to even the score at 1-1 heading into the second.
The Seminoles added three runs in the second inning with one hit and a pair of fielding errors by the Bears.
Florida State tacked on two more runs on the scoreboard after a two-run home run by Ashtyn Danley in the third inning to take a 6-1 advantage.
The Bears chipped away at their deficit in the fourth inning after a solo shot from
Tianna Bell.
Trailing 10-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Butler launched her seventh home run of the season and the 34th of her career to give the Bears life.
The Seminoles extended their lead in the seventh inning to secure the 11-3 victory.

Cal will complete the three-game series against No. 9 Florida State on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT.
