TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Berta Passola Folch clinched the 17th-ranked California women's tennis team's ninth consecutive victory Friday, with the Golden Bears shutting out No. 65 Florida State 4-0. The Cal junior won 7-5, 7-2 over Maria Parra Romero to seal the result.
 
Cal remained unbeaten in the ACC at 7-0 and improved its overall record to 10-4. Florida State has a record of 12-5 (3-4).
 
The Bears captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. The court-three duo of Lan Mi and Greta Greco Lucchina posted a 6-4 result against FSU's Millie Bissett and Kristyna Lavickova in the first completed match of the day. Cal secured the point on court two, where Passola Folch and Naomi Xu topped Laura Putz and Maelie Monfils 6-4.
 
In singles, 90th-ranked Mi gave Cal a 2-0 advantage when she defeated M.B. Deatherage 6-3, 6-2 on court three, and then 115th-ranked Jessica Alsola beat Bissett 6-3, 6-4 on court two to make the score 3-0. That left Passola Folch to record her second clinching win of the season and end the match.
 
The Bears next compete Sunday when they play at No. 69 Miami at 8 a.m. PT.
