TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 21 California softball team dropped its final game of the Kajikawa Classic to Arizona State, 6-4, on Sunday at Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
After two scoreless innings to start the game, the action began to pick up in the top of the third. The Golden Bears put up three runs to take the lead early.
With the bases loaded, Tianna Bell drove a base hit up the middle to bring two runners across the plate. In the next at-bat, Kaylee Pond executed a sacrifice fly to add another score to the board. Mia Phillips followed up with an RBI single to give the Bears the 4-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the third.
The Sun Devils responded with three runs on three hits in the bottom half of the third to cut their deficit to one after three innings of action. Arizona State held Cal to only one hit for the remainder of the game.
After tying the score in the fifth inning, the Sun Devils took the lead after a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth en route to securing the 6-4 victory.

Cal will head to Long Beach to participate in the Wilson Invitational beginning on Friday against Oregon State with a first pitch time of 4:30 p.m. PT.
