DAVIS – The California field hockey team (6-1) defeated UC Davis (2-6), 4-0, on Sunday at Aggie Field Hockey Facility in Davis.

Freshman standout
Liz Klompmaker put her first shot through the net in the opening minute off assists from graduate student
Canisha van Duyn and senior
Sydney Decher. Junior
Olivia Sharratt secured her first goal of the season at the 10:41-minute mark. Klompmaker added another goal late in the opening period off the assist from Sharratt to give the Golden Bears a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. Three goals in the opening period marked a season-high for the Bears.
Freshman
Maya Hoepfner scored her third goal of the season early in the third period off a penalty stroke to extend Cal's lead to 4-0. Hoepfner has accounted for a goal in three of the last four games.
The Bears have secured back-to-back shutouts and have three on the season, including two against the Aggies. Cal totaled 20 shots in the game, including 11 in the first period.
Cal returns to Underhill Field with two ACC-ranked matchups beginning Friday against No. 9 Duke at 4:00 p.m. PT.
