CAL CONTINUES 5-GAME HOMESTAND THURSDAY AGAINST ST. BONAVENTURE
— Cal and St. Bonaventure are meeting for the first time. Both teams have opened the 2024 season at 1-3. The Golden Bears began their campaign with a home victory over Akron followed by road losses at Le Moyne and Cornell, and then at home to Lindenwood. St. Bonaventure has a win in its only home contest against Bucknell but has been defeated in all three of its road contests at Akron, Siena and UC Davis.
— Thursday's forecast in Berkeley at 2 p.m. first draw calls for rain with a 73% chance of precipitation, a temperature of 58 degrees, and winds from the south/southwest at 22 miles per hour.
— Cal's current five-game homestand that began with a loss to Lindenwood last Friday will run through March 12 and is Cal's longest stretch of consecutive regular-season home games since playing five in a row at California Memorial Stadium from March 3-16, 2017, as well as one shy of the school record of six straight at home to open the 2007 campaign (Feb. 22 – March 15, 2007).
— After the current five-game homestand concludes, Cal will play at home only three more times for the remainder of the regular season.

— Cal's third straight loss in its most recent game last Friday was an 8-7 heartbreaker at home to Lindenwood, which scored the final three goals over the last 5:38 after the Golden Bears had led 7-5. Cal had trailed 4-1 early in the third quarter before an impressive stretch when the Bears scored six of the contest's next seven goals to take a 7-5 advantage.
— Kennedy Goss, Alyssa Studdert and Mya Wang each finished with a pair of goals for the Bears, while Kennedy Mason had one. Goss, Studdert and Courtney Wong each also had one assist. Callan Fritsch recorded a career-high 16 saves and played the entire game in goal for the first time.
— Lindenwood held advantages statistically in shots (28-23), shots on goal (24-15) and ground balls (23-16), while also making 3-of-4 free position shots with Cal 0-of-3. Cal committed eight more turnovers than the Lions (22-14), while both teams were successful on 21 clear attempts with Cal 21-of-22 and Lindenwood 21-of-26. Cal won the draw control battle, 10-9.
