EUGENE, Ore. - Derek White threw the discus 187-6, increasing his lifetime best by seven feet, to capture runner-up honors, and Angelica Weaver ran the second-fastest women's 400-meter hurdles in school history, as Cal concluded competition at the inaugural Pac-12 Championships Sunday at Hayward Field.

White arrived at Cal this season as the 2011 state JC champion in the discus while at De Anza College. On Sunday, his effort of 187-6 came on his third attempt and bettered his previous PR of 180-8 set during the Big Meet in mid-April. The last Golden Bear to place higher in the discus event at the conference meet was Ramon Jimenez-Gaona, who won back-to-back titles in 1991-92.

Weaver lowered her personal-best by half a second, finishing in 57.85. The time matched Deanna Slaton's 2004 mark for No. 2 all-time at Cal, trailing only the school-record 57.61 set by Helga Halldorsdottir in 1986. Weaver, who won the USA junior title in the 400 hurdles over the summer with a time of 59.83, entered the year with a PR of 59.66, meaning she has taken off nearly two seconds this spring.

In the team race, Oregon finished atop both the men's and women's standings, with the Cal men and women each placing 10th.

After having three men's long jumpers score in the top eight Saturday, the Bears had a couple of triple jumpers add to the team's point total Sunday afternoon. Taylor Kientzel was the top finisher, placing fifth with a wind-aided 51-0.00, a remarkable effort considering his PR before the meet was 47-11.75. He topped 50 feet on three of his six attempts, including a legal-best of 50-7.50. In addition, freshman Jonte Grant followed up his fifth-place showing in the long jump by taking seventh in the triple jump with a PR 50-8.25.

Charnell Price scored in four events for the women's team Sunday, taking fifth in the 100 meters with a wind-aided 11.51 and eighth in the 200m in 23.97, in addition to running the second leg on Cal's 4x100-meter relay and anchor on the 4x400-meter relay. The 4x100 relay took fifth in 44.89. Not only was the time a season-best for the Bears, it ranked No. 7 on the school's all-time performer chart. The 4x400 relay finished eighth in 3:42.51.

In the women's triple jump, Amanda Hunter improved her PR to 41-7.75 in finishing seventh. The mark moves her No. 8 in Cal history, just behind teammate Aziza Baker, who was just out of the scoring with a ninth-place effort Sunday.

The Bears now have a week off before heading to the NCAA West Preliminary meet in Austin, Texas, May 24-26, which will determine which athletes advance to the national championships.
