Field Hockey Downed by BU 2-1
Sept. 17, 2000
BOSTON, MASS -
Cal concluded its swing through New England with a 2-1 loss to Boston University. The Bears played three games this past weekend going 1-2 against Harvard (2-1 loss), Rhode Island (2-1 win) and No. 16 Boston University.
BU opened the scoring late into the first half as Felicia Cappabianca put home a rebound off of a penalty corner at 6:10.
The Terriers took the lead into the half, but at 23:58 of the second set, midfielder Stephanie Lyons evened things up via Leslie Katch and Nora Feddersen as the sophomore connected on a penalty corner for the Bears.
The game was dead-locked for the majority of the second half with the possibility of yet another overtime session looming ahead for the Bears.
All that changed when BU forward Kelly Clothier pushed in a pass from Jane Rogers for the game-winner at 5:45.
Cal was out shot by BU, 29-6 with a 19-1 edge in the first half. Once again, Sarah Hoehn kept the game close for the Bears as the goalkeeper made 13 saves on the game.
Cal returns to Berkeley to face Southwest Missouri State on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. for the Bears second conference game of the season. BU will also continue their conference slate as it faces America East foe Towson in Boston.
