BERKELEY, Calif. - The University of California women's volleyball team (12-15, 7-11) won its second five-game match in a row, defeating Washington, 3-2 (6-15, 15-12, 15-1, 13-15, 15-12), in its final Pac-10 match of the season Saturday evening at Haas Pavilion on the Cal campus. The Huskies fall to 8-18, 4-14 on the year.

Cal's 12 overall wins are the most since 1995, and the Bears seven conference victories are the most since 1991. The Bears 7-11 record assures Cal a sixth-place conference finish, their highest league placing since 1991. Combined with the victory over Washington State on Friday, it was the first time the Bears had swept the Washington schools since Oct. 25-26, 1991.

Cal was led by junior outside hitter Alicia Perry, who had her second triple-double in the last two days with a team-high 23 kills, 32 assists and 11 digs. On Friday in the five-game victory over Washington State, Perry had a team-high 21 kills with 31 assists and 19 digs. Senior middle blocker Kellie Alva, senior Brook Coulter and freshman Courtney Guerra also played well against the Huskies. Alva had 11 kills with four errors in 22 attempts for a .318 hitting percentage and had a team-high eight block assists. Coulter had 19 kills with a team-high 25 digs, and Guerra added 12 kills with no errors in 24 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. It was the final Pac-10 match in a Cal uniform for Alva and Coulter.

"This was a great way to end our Pac-10 season," said Cal's first year head coach Rich Feller. "To win back-to-back five-game matches is tremendous, and to sweep the Washington schools is something that hasn't been done in a long time. It feels great to go out like this and I'm proud of this team."

Cal will next host Nevada in the season finale Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m at Haas Pavilion. The match will mark the final collegiate contests for seniors Coulter and Alva.
