Mike Bloesch is in his second season on Cal's coaching staff in 2024 and his first full campaign as the Golden Bears' offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. Bloesch was Cal's offensive line coach/run game coordinator during the 2023 regular season before being elevated to offensive coordinator/offensive line coach on December 2, 2023.

COACHING CAREER
California – Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line (December 2023 – Present); Offensive Line/Run Game Coordinator (2023)
– Served in his current role in Cal's appearance at the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl to conclude a 2023 season in which he was given much of the credit for the improvement of an offensive line that helped the running game average of 172.8 yards per game, which was its highest mark since 2012
– Offensive line helped open running room for 2024 Heisman Trophy candidate Jaydn Ott, who in 2023 paced the Pac-12 and ranked among the nation's best in all-purpose yards per game (135.67, #6 NCAA), rushing yards per game (109.6, #9 NCAA) and rushing yards (1315, #14 NCAA), while also tying for second in the league with 15 total touchdowns (#19T NCAA) and 12 rushing touchdowns (#29T NCAA)
– Helped keep Cal's offensive line mostly intact throughout the season with three members – Brian Driscoll, Barret MIller and T.J. Session – starting all 13 games, while Matthew Wykoff (12) and Siope Vatikani (11) missed just three starts between them
– Facilitated Driscoll’s move from starting left guard to Cindric’s starting spot at center after the sixth-year senior’s season-ending injury in the opener at North Texas
– Engineered Cal's tremendous improvements in protecting the quarterback, improving from 10th to fourth in the Pac-12 in per game sacks allowed (2.58 to 1.77)
– Produced a trio of Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week selections in Driscoll (Week 1 at North Texas; Week 11 vs. Washington State) and Miller (Week 12 at Stanford)
– Got off to a strong recruiting start at Cal in 2023, highlighted by landing a pair of proven Power 5 transfer portal offensive linemen in Miller (Stanford) and Wykoff (Texas A&M) as part of a 2023 spring transfer portal class that was listed by The Athletic as one of its’ 10 “winners,” while also being recognized by On3 (1 of 12 “winners”) and 247Sports (No. 17 overall class) and then followed up his 2023 recruiting efforts by securing a 2024 transfer portal class that is currently ranked No. 14 by On3 after reaching as high as No. 6 at one point
North Texas – Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks (2022); Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line (2021); Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line (2020)
– Helped 2022 Frisco Bowl squad lead Conference USA in fewest per-game sacks allowed (0.79) and tackles for loss allowed (4.07) while checking in at fifth and 13th nationally in the categories
– Team also paced Conference USA in 2022 in passing yards per completion (15.22, No. 4 NCAA), shared a piece of the conference lead for fewest fumbles lost (6, No. 29T NCAA), and ranked third in total offense (461.8, No. 21 NCAA), scoring offense (33.8, No. 27 NCAA) and team passing efficiency (145.65, No. 34 NCAA)
– Produced a pair of 2022 first-team All-Conference USA selections in tight end Var’Keyes Gumms (34-458, 5 TD) and offensive lineman Manase Mose
– Quarterback Austin Aune led the nation in 2022 with an average of 15.29 passing yards per completion and also posted top-20 national rankings for passing touchdowns (33, No. 8T), passing yards (3,547, No. 17), yards per pass attempt (8.63, No. 17) and points responsible for (206, No. 19)
– Wide receiver Jyaire Shorter tied for second in Conference USA and tied for seventh nationally with 11 receiving touchdowns in 2022
– Directed one of the nation’s leading rushing attacks and mentored one of the top offensive line units in the country in 2021 with the Mean Green pacing Conference USA and finishing among the country’s top 10 in rushing offense (233.5 ypg, No. 5) and sacks allowed (1.15, No. 10T)
– Running back DeAndre Torrey’s 1,215 rushing yards in 2021 were the seventh-best single season total in North Texas history with his 101.2 rushing yards per game 21st in the country
– Helped guide the Mean Green to the nation’s eighth-ranked total offense in 2020 with a balanced attack that averaged 513.2 yards per game and was also among national leaders in rushing offense (230.2, No. 13), yards per play (6.59, No. 22), scoring offense (34.4, No. 23) and passing offense (283.0, No. 25), with all numbers also leading Conference USA
– Wide receiver Jaelon Darden had an All-American senior season in 2020 when he was also the Conference USA Most Valuable Player and led the league in nearly every category including top-five national finishes in touchdown catches (19, No. 2), receiving yards (1190, No. 3 NCAA) and receptions (74, No. 5) in just nine games before being selected by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft
– Finalist for Football Scoop Offensive Line Coach of the Year (2021) and twice nominated for the Broyles Award honoring the nation’s top assistant coach (2020, 2022)
Tulsa – Offensive Line (2016-19); Quality Control Tight Ends (2015)
– Coached four different offensive linemen to seven American Athletic Conference honors during his tenure
– Offensive line paved the way for a 2016 team that finished 10-3, won the Miami Beach Bowl and ranked among the nation’s top 10 in total offense (527.0, No. 4), scoring offense (42.5, No. 7) and rushing offense (261.7, No. 8) while establishing a school record with eight 300+ yard rushing games (second-most in nation) and becoming the first Division I school to have a 3,000-yard passer (Dane Evans, 3348), two 1,000-yard rushers (James Flanders, 1629; D’Angelo Brewer, 1435) and two 1,000-yard receivers (Kevin Lucas, 1180; Josh Atkinson, 1058) in the same season
– Recruited and signed a pair of offensive linemen selected in the 2022 NFL Draft in Tyler Smith (Dallas, first round) and Chris Paul (Washington, seventh round) with Smith going on to start 31 regular-season NFL games in 2022 and 2023, while Paul has made made eight in the same two seasons for Washington
Houston – Analyst (2014)
– Responsible for providing analytical support for the offensive coaching staff including video breakdown, self and opponent scouting, gameday support and analysis for an 8-5 team that won the Armed Forces Bowl
Temple High School (Temple, TX) – Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line (2011-13)
– Helped the program capture the District 8-5A championship in 2013 while averaging 44 points and 512 offensive yards per game
– Also served as the school's powerlifting head coach, middle school coordinator and recruiting coordinator
