Cory Nicol, a former Division I defensive back, is in his first season as Director of Player Personnel for the Cal football program in 2017. Nicol arrived in Berkeley after spending last season as a scouting analyst at UCLA.

For three years (2012-15), he served as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel at Northwestern. Sandwiched between his time at UCLA and Northwestern, Nicol was a regional scout for XOS Digital.

Nicol has some coaching experience, as well, having spent the 2011 season as the defensive backs coach at San Juan Hills High School in California and the 2010 campaign as the defensive coordinator at Lynnwood High School in Washington.

As a player, Nicol played his final two collegiate seasons at Montana State. He transferred to Montana State after playing at Washington in 2007. He started his collegiate career at Orange Coast College from 2005-06.

A native of Seattle, Nicol graduated from Montana State in 2010.
