MILTON, Ga. - No. 1 ranked Cal will square off with Illinois in the first of two semifinal matches at the 2013 NCAA Championship on Saturday at The Capital City Club's Crabapple Course. The Golden Bears are top seed in match play and advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Arizona State on Friday that came down to the final hole of the match. Fifth-seeded Illinois knocked off defending national champion and No. 4 Texas.

The teams tee off from the first hole beginning at 10:00 ET/7:00 a.m. PT. Action from the final four holes will webcast live at NCAA.com starting at 1:00 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

In NCAA match play, a total of five points are available for each team match, with one point being awarded for each individual match. The first team to reach three points will be the winner of the match.

Cal is playing for the second time in school history in NCAA Championship match play and has a 2-1 record overall. The Bears also reached the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Championship by in its match-play debut. The Bears defeated San Diego State, 3-2, in the quarterfinals a year ago before falling by the same score to Alabama in the semifinals at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Four of the five players in Cal's 2013 lineup played a year ago.

Cal did not play in a match-play event during the 2012-13 regular season.

Cal is currently concluding its historic 2012-13 season with a school-record fourth straight appearance at the NCAA Championship in pursuit of its second national title. The Golden Bears posted the lowest 54-hole total (277-272-275 - 824, -16) over three days of stroke play.at the 2013 NCAA's and to earn their top seed in match play. Cal has broken the modern-era NCAA single-season win record in 2012-13 with 11 victories in its first 13 tournaments, bettering the previous mark of 10 wins recorded by the 1985-86 Oklahoma State team.

Among Cal's 11 victories are second consecutive NCAA Regional and Pac-12 titles in the team's last two events. The Bears were also winners earlier in the season at the Gopher Invitational, PING/Golfweek Preview (shared with Georgia Tech), Pac-12 Preview, Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Fresno State Lexus Classic, Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters and Western Intercollegiate.
