Working in Sports Medicine and Intercollegiate Athletics for over 20 years, Ryan works to coordinate services for Cal's Intercollegiate Student Athletes, as well as helping to foster collaboration and integration between Athletics and many other campus departments and services, in areas of welfare, health and conduct. Serving as Cal's Head Athletic Trainer since 2003, Cobb oversees areas related to Performance, Health and Welfare, including Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition Services, Risk Management, Student Athlete Development, and coordinating all medical services in conjunction with the Head Team Physician and Medical Director at University Health Services. He also is the administrator overseeing several of Cal's Athletic Teams.

She also worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Cal from 2001-2003.

Christopher DaPrato, DPT, SCS, CSCS, PES
Physical Therapist
DaPrato joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2017 as a full time physical therapist. He was previously on staff at Cal from 2008-2011. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Physiology from San Francisco State University in 1999, a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Long Beach State University in 2002, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University in 2008. Currently he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF physical therapy department. He specializes in myofascial decompression, and teaches continuing education courses around the country on manual therapy techniques.

Physical Therapist
Luc joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2021. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiothérapie from Université Laval in Québec, Canada in 2001, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in 2015. Currently he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF physical therapy department.

Lauren joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2012 as a certified intern. She was later hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2104. She has also worked as a Governmental Affairs Representative for athletic training at the national (NATA), district (FWATA) and state (California) levels since 2012.

Lindsay Huston
Lindsay Huston, MD
Head Team Physician
Dr. Huston joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2013, and was named Head Team Physician in 2016. Prior to Cal, she was the Head Team Physician at Yale University for four years; during this time, she served on the Ivy League Concussion Committee. Dr. Huston is a graduate of Stanford University, where she was a member of the varsity softball team. She received her medical degree from the University of California, Davis, and completed her Family Medicine residency through Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles. She did her sports medicine fellowship at the San Jose-O'Connor Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Huston currently sits on the board of the Pac-12 Student-Athlete Health and Well Being Initiative, and is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Amy Hockenbrock
Amy Hockenbrock, MD
Associate Team Physician
Dr. Amy White Hockenbrock is a board certified family medicine physician with a certificate of added qualification in primary care sports medicine. Dr. Hockenbrock’s interests include sports medicine, LGBTQ care, and women's care. Dr. Hockenbrock was an undergraduate at UC Berkeley where she studied Molecular and Cell Biology and led Cal’s women’s soccer team to multiple playoff berths from 1996 through 2000. She received her M.D. from Chicago Medical School and then returned to San Jose for residency and primary care sports medicine fellowship at O’Connor Hospital. Dr. Hockenbrock recently rejoined the Cal community as an Associate Team Physician.

Meredith Bean, MD
A former collegiate soccer player at UCLA, Dr. Bean is a fellowship trained sports medicine specialist who is in private practice.
Cindy Chang
Cindy Chang, MD
Dr. Chang served as Cal’s Head Team Physician from 1995-2008. She currently works as an orthopedic sports medicine specialist at UCSF, and volunteers as a team physician. She is recognized as one of the leading primary care sports medicine physicians in the country.

Dr. Eppley played collegiate basketball at Swarthmore College, and has been one of Cal’s primary orthopedic consultants since 1992. Fellowship-trained in sports medicine, he is in private practice in Berkeley, and is repeatedly voted one of the “Bay Area’s Best Doctors” by fellow physicians.

Dr. Golz is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who cares for patients with disorders of the knee, shoulder and elbow. He is in practice at Kaiser-Oakland.

Dr. Masem is fellowship trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His orthopedic subspecialty is in hand, wrist, and upper extremity injuries. Minnie Tobias, began working with Cal Athletics in 2020. She received her AS in Health Care Administration and previously worked in a San Francisco periodontal office as a doctor-patient coordinator.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
101954 Chris McLean, PhD, is a staff psychologist at University Health Services who provides and coordinates counseling & psychological services for student athletes and the entire student body.
CARDIOLOGISTS
Byron Lee Byron Lee, MD, is in practice at UCSF where he is the Medical Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory and Clinic. After getting his BA at Cal, he graduated from Harvard Medical School and trained in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Stanford University Medical Center. One of his research interests is the screening of athletes to prevent sudden death.

ACUPUNCTURISTS
Glen Oberman, OMD, LAc, has been involved with Cal Sports Medicine since 2007. He supervises the treatment of Cal student-athletes by acupuncture interns from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley. He is Clinic Dean at the college, and has a national board certification in Acupuncture Orthopedics. He also teaches courses in Acupuncture Orthopedics, Research Methodology and Ethics, and Law.
