An excellent all-around athlete who is slotted to play fullback at Cal as he is adept at both running and catching the football...originally signed with Cal last spring, but needed to fulfill one academic requirement before becoming eligible and thus stayed out of college altogether and re-signed with Cal this year and will be an incoming freshman in the fall...was a SuperPrep All-Far West selection in 1997, ranking as the No. 30 prospect in the region...also earned honorable mention USA Today All-America honors...rated the No. 3 prospect in the East Bay by the Contra Costa Times...earned 2 votes on the Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West poll...played on an undefeated De La Salle team (12-0) and his squad was usually so far ahead, he rarely played late in games...did not lose a game in his 3-year varsity career as a prep...finished with 1,472 yards, on just 140 carries (10.5 average) and 29 touchdowns in '96...most extensive action came when he rushed 22 times for 237 yards in a 36-19 win over Rancho Buena Vista HS...has the versatility to also play in the secondary if needed...recruited by USC and Washington before choosing Cal...also was a fine prep triple jumper.
