Action from the College World Series game between Cal and Virginia

The California baseball team defeated Dallas Baptist, 7-0, in the first game of the NCAA Santa Clara Super Regional.
A left-handed hitting senior who will be battling for starting duties in the Bears' middle infield or outfield...played for the Vienna (Va.) Senators of the Clark Griffith League in the summer of 2009 and competed in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate League All-Star Game where he was 2-for-4 with three stolen bases...father, Rod, was an All-American shortstop at Cal, helping the Golden Bears to a third-place national finish at the 1980 College World Series.
AS A JUNIOR (2010): Batted .267 (24-for-90, .222 vs. Pac-10) with four doubles and 10 RBI in 33 games and 23 starts (11 as designated hitter, 10 in left field, two at second base)...had a two-run single May 22 vs. UCLA...had a two-run double April 24 at Stanford...went 3-for-4 with an RBI March 20, and 2-for-5 with a double and RBI March 19, at Cal Poly...was 3-for-6 Feb. 28 at CS Bakersfield.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2009): Batted .263 (10-for-38, .174 vs. Pac-10) with a double, home run and seven RBI...was 5-for-12 (.417) as a pinch hitter...had a two-run double May 9 at UCLA...scored the winning run in the Bears' 4-3 victory over Vanderbilt...hit his first collegiate home run in first at-bat of the season Feb. 21 vs. UC Riverside.
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2008): Batted .333 (2-for-4 vs. Pac-10) with three RBI in 16 games...knocked in RBI versus Fresno State, New Mexico and Arizona...hit .667 (2-for-3) with runners in scoring position.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Robinson High School in Fairfax, Va. was second-team All-Concorde District as a senior, and first-team all-district and second-team All-Northern Region as a junior...helped his team to a Concorde District title during his senior year, and a Northern Virginia Regional championship his junior year...owned a .446 high school batting average...also competed in football and was first-team Patriot District, first-team All-Northern Region, first-team All-Examiner, honorable mention all-metro and honorable mention all-state defensive back...was a member of the National Honor Roll and was listed in the Who's Who Among High School Students...majoring in American studies...father, Rod, went on to play five years in the major leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals...is also a distant relative of Jackie Robinson...parents are Rod and Kathryn Booker... born April 11, 1988 in Pasadena, Calif.
