BERKELEY - Tarah Murrey once again served as the offensive sparkplug for the top-ranked volleyball team in the country last week, making her this week’s California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior outside hitter amassed a team-high 45 kills across three matches to average an impressive 4.50 kills per set.
Against No. 2 Stanford, Murrey laid down 15 kills and two solo blocks for 17.0 points. The consummate teammate, she also dished out five assists and 12 digs en route to a 3-1 win over Stanford.
Against Colorado on Friday, Murrey tallied her best attacking percentage, hitting .214 with 13 kills to lead the Bears to a .343 team hitting percentage.
She notched a week-high 17 kills in the 3-0 win over Utah along with seven kills and 2.0 blocks.
Murrey twice took a season high 51 attempts – against Stanford and Utah. Her five assists versus Stanford were a career high. She also hit a season-best two solo blocks against the Cardinal.
