BERKELEY -
Michael Sharf netted three goals, including the gamewinner with 21 seconds remaining, to help the No. 3 Golden Bears win their first match against No. 4 UCLA at Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in 10 years and earn the senior All-American the nod as Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
Cal moved to 17-2 overall and 2-0 in MPSF play with Saturday's 8-7 victory, the first time the Golden Bears had defeated the Bruins at Rose Bowl Aquatic Center since Oct. 25, 1997, when Cal won 9-8 in overtime.
Sharf, who also had two steals in the contest, is the Bears' leading scorer this season with 62 goals in 18 matches and now has 163 career goals. The graduate of Miramonte High School in Orinda has been Cal's leading scorer in 12 of the team's 19 matches this season.
