Biography
2011: Was one of the Bears' best competitors on the floor and competed in eight meets...set his career high with a 15.400 on the floor at the Stanford Open...was one of Cal's top two finishers on floor with identical scores of 15.200 in the NCAA Team Qualifiers and Championships...scored over a 15.000 in four of the eight meets in which he competed in.
2010: Redshirted due to injury.
2009: Competed in seven meets for the Bears including the NCAA Team Qualifier...set a career high of 15.150 on the floor during the last regular season meet against Penn State...established a career high of 15.400 during the Stanford Open...competed once on the pommel horse in his first collegiate meet against Stanford.
Personal: Spent four hours every day commuting from Mobile, Ala., to train with his club team...undeclared major...parents are Roy and Gay Culpepper.

DC: "Cal's reputation for outstanding academics combined with the opportunity to pursue gymnastics in college. The diversity of the city of Berkeley also made Cal appealing to me."
CalBears.com: What has been the hardest, most surprising aspect about transitioning from high school to college?
DC: "The most difficult part of the transition between high school and college is having friends that live right next door. It makes the temptation to avoid studying much greater than it was at home."
CalBears.com: What is your favorite part about gymnastics and/or how did you get started in gymnastics?
DC: "I started gymnastics because I used to do handstands around the house and back flips off our diving board at home when I was five. My mom wanted me to be safe, so she put me in classes."
