Bears To Send Twidale, Maul, Smith To Annual Media Event
Senior guards Lulu Twidale and Gisella Maul will join Cal women's basketball head coach Charmin Smith at the annual ACC Tipoff on Oct. 6 at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The annual media day event will feature a press conference with all three participants streamed on ACCNX along with separate breakout interviews with Smith followed by Twidale and Maul which will air on ACC Network. Exact times for these appearances will be announced later.
Twidale returns to the Golden Bears as one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. Coming into the 2026-27 season she ranks second in the NCAA among all returning players for career triples (236) and is the only player in the nation with back-to-back seasons with 94+ made 3-pointers. She finished the 2025-26 campaign fifth in the country for 3-pointers (101) while setting Cal program records for both single season and career triples on her way to being named to the All-ACC Second Team. Twidale was also just one of two players to finish the ACC season ranked in the top 10 for scoring (17.0 - 7th), assists (4.2 - 8th) and 3-pointers (63 - 1st) and free throw percentage (93.0 - 1st) during conference play.
Maul is coming off a career year in which she finished as one of the most improved players in the ACC after setting career-high averages of 9.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 2025-26. She was second on the team in double-doubles (5) which ranked 12th in the ACC overall and fourth among guards. Maul finished last year with 17 double-digit scoring games and ranked second on the team in 3-pointers (51) and rebounds (240). She was also named the USBWA National Player of the Week on Feb. 10 after posting back-to-back double doubles against Georgia Tech and Pitt.
