Former Golden Bear Maegan Manasse Joins Cal Women's Tennis Coaching Staff

Maggie Kane, the Stacy Savides Director of Women's Tennis, announced Thursday that former Golden Bear Maegan Manasse, a five-time All-American, will be joining the coaching staff.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Maegan back to Cal and have her join our coaching staff," Kane said. "She had an outstanding career as a Golden Bear and went on to compete professionally, so she brings a wealth of experience and perspective that will be incredibly valuable to our student-athletes."
"There's something truly special about having a former Bear come back and invest in the next generation of Cal Women's Tennis. We couldn't be more excited about having Maegan back."
During her freshman season in 2014, Manasse helped the Bears capture their first Pac-12 championship with a victory over Stanford. As a sophomore, she earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles and was named to the All-Pac-12 first team. In her junior season, Manasse was named Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and won the Pac-12 singles championship. She concluded her collegiate career in 2017 as a five-time All-American and once again was named to the All-Pac-12 first team.
"I'm beyond excited to be joining the team as an assistant coach this year. It's been my dream to coach at Cal and be able to give back to the program that gave me so much," Manasse said. "These women are extremely talented, and I'm looking forward to being able to share my experience and knowledge with them.
"I'm excited to work with Maggie and (assistant coach Jaan Kononov), and I can't wait to see what we accomplish in this new era of Cal Women's Tennis."
After Cal, Manasse played professional tennis on the WTA tour for more than six years and won a WTA doubles title. She reached career-high rankings of No. 327 in the world in singles, and No. 175 in doubles.
Manasse also served as a volunteer assistant coach at USC in 2021 and as an interim assistant coach at Cal that same year. Since 2023, she has worked as a tennis professional at Orinda Country Club.
