Cal Swimming & Diving Adds Two Assistant Coaches

Lewis, Dols Join Golden Bears Staff
Brody Lewis and Keanan Dols have been named assistant coaches for the California swimming & diving program, Director Of Swimming & Diving/Head Coach David Durden on (insert date).
Lewis comes to Berkeley after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where he coached or recruited over half of Utah's men's top-10 all-time event performers, one NCAA All-American, three Pac-12 podium finishes, 24 Big-12 podium finishes and 12 school records. Prior to Utah, Lewis spent a season under the same title at the University of Northern Colorado where he was a part of the Bears' women's swimming & diving team that broke 16 school records and recorded 81 top-10 performances in program history.
"I am excited to welcome Brody to our staff," Durden said. "He brings an excellent educational background and valuable on-deck experience that will allow him to make an immediate impact on our program. Throughout the interview process, it became clear through his conversations with our athletes and staff that he would be a great fit at Cal. We are excited to welcome Brody and his family to the Bay Area."
A native of Greeley, Colorado, Lewis swam at Utah and qualified for the Pac-12 Championships in each of his four years with the Utes and was an NCAA B Cut Qualifier in 2017, 2018 and 2020. He owns the fourth-fastest 200 breast time in program history as well as the sixth-fastest 100 breast time. Lewis qualified for the USA Olympic Trials in 2020 in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. He earned his master's degree in sports coaching from Northern Colorado and his bachelor's in kinesiology teaching with a minor in nutrition from Utah.

I can't wait to start working with this world class coaching staff, and I look forward to developing each student-athlete to be the best individual they can be. Go Bears!"
Dols comes to Berkeley after three seasons as an assistant coach at Villanova, where he led the women's program to its 13th consecutive Big East championship in 2026 while setting a record for most points scored in conference history and the men's team broke 10 program records and posted its highest conference scoring total since 2021. Before his stint at Villanova, Dols spent time as a volunteer coach at Kentucky after competing in the SEC Championships as a Wildcat.
"Spending time with Keanan throughout this process has reinforced how uniquely positioned he is as a coach," Durden said. "His experience as an athlete, combined with his transition to the coaching deck, gives him a valuable perspective on athlete development and the sport. I am excited to share the deck with him, and I know his perspective and approach will help me, our staff, and our student-athletes continue to pursue the goals we have for our program."
Hailing from Sarasota, Florida, Dols swam for both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Kentucky while also competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, representing Jamaica in the 200-meter butterfly and 200 individual medley. He holds eight Jamaican Senior National Records and swam for the Senior National Team from 2015-2023. Dols has also competed in four World Championships. He earned his master's degree in supply chain management from Kentucky and his bachelor's in mechanical engineering & applied mechanics from Penn.
