Eddy, Kenady Named All-ACC

Underclassmen Get Conference Recognition

BERKELEY – Gavin Eddy and Jett Kenady of the California baseball team were named to All-ACC Teams, as announced by the conference Monday.

Eddy is the second Golden Bear and first Cal pitcher to be named to the All-ACC Second Team. The sophomore has been lights out for the Bears this year, leading the conference with 84.2 innings pitched and ranking fourth amongst starters with a 2.87 ERA. His 94 strikeouts is good fourth in the ACC and he also ranks in the top10 in wins (6), starts (14) and opposing batting average (.229).

Eddy has turned in five straight quality starts including a 14-strikeout performance on the road against No. 23 Virginia on May 9 that earned him Cal's first ACC Pitcher of the Week award. It was the most punchouts by a Bear since 2011.

Kenady becomes the first Bear to be named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after a stellar year as the top rookie shortstop in the conference. Starting in 50 games in one of the toughest positions in the sport, Kenady has been a constant force on both ends of the ball in his debut season. He ranks second on the team in batting average (.328), slugging (.587), OPS (.945), hits (66), home runs (11) and total bases (118) while being tied for the team lead with 17 doubles.

Kenady has shown up in big moments down the stretch for the Bears this year, hitting a go-ahead grand slam on the road at No. 23 Virginia on May 10 and a game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh this past weekend against Stanford.
