Cal QB Earns Recognition After Leading Bears To 25-20 Victory Over Virginia Tech
California football quarterback Jackson Brousseau has been named a Manning Star of the Week following his standout Week 6 performance in which he led the Golden Bears to a 25-20 victory over Virginia Tech this past weekend.
Brousseau, making his first start at Cal, was an effective 29-for-43 for 321 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions against the Hokies. Brousseau has completed 63.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions in parts of four games this season.
This is the first time in Brousseau's career that he has earned the Manning Star of the Week distinction and second time this season that a Bear has been added to the weekly award list after Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele's Week 3 recognition.
The Manning Award selected 40 quarterbacks for its Watch List in the preseason and will add additional quarterbacks on October 23. Finalists will be selected in early December, and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
