Klompmaker Named To NFHCA Collegiate Watchlist
Marks Klompmaker’s Second Preseason Honor
California sophomore forward
Liz Klompmaker has added another accolade to her growing list of honors as she has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NHFCA) Collegiate Watchlist, the organization announced Thursday. She was already named to the Preseason All-ACC Team earlier this month. Klompmaker was one of 196 field hockey players from across the country to be named to the list.
The list is intended to showcase field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the current year's NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams. To be nominated for the 2025 NFHCA Watchlist, student-athletes must have been previously recognized for their outstanding field hockey abilities within the past two years (NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, and/or U.S. National or International Team roster) and nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
Klompmaker is coming off a stellar freshman campaign in which she was named the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-ACC honors after tying for second in the conference in goals (15) and game-winning goals (5), ranking second in shots on goal (45) and fourth in points (31), while leading the team in each category.
In addition, she earned the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 29 after netting two goals each in games against Louisville and Wake Forest. The goals against the Cardinals powered the Golden Bears to their first-ever ACC win. Klompmaker finished the 2024 season with six games in which she scored two goals.
Cal opens the regular season at Monmouth this Friday at 10 a.m. PT.
