Bears Clinch Spot In ACC Championship

Anders Became All-Time Leader In Career Doubles

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The California softball team (33-18, 9-13 ACC) picked up a shutout victory in the series opener against Syracuse (27-20, 6-16 ACC), 7-0, on Friday at Skytop Softball Stadium.

After securing the win, the Golden Bears punched their ticket to the 2025 ACC Championship for the first time in program history, which will be hosted by Boston College next week from May 7-10.

Acacia Anders made history after recording her 16th double of the season. She sits alone in the record book as the all-time leader in program history with 51 career doubles, passing former Bear Lindsay Rood (2016-19). Anders is now three doubles shy of her single-season record that she set a season ago.

After a slow start through two innings of play, the Bears came alive after scoring four runs in the third. Lagi Quiroga knocked in a base hit to bring two base runners across home plate. Later in the frame, Kaylee Pond put two runs on the scoreboard after finding the gap in left-center field for a double, giving Cal a 4-0 advantage.

In the fifth inning, Tianna Bell connected for her team-leading 14th home run of the season, increasing the lead to 5-0.

The Bears put the finishing touches on the game in the sixth inning after adding two more runs on the scoreboard, highlighted by Mika Lee, who recorded her fourth home run of the season.

Anna Reimers and Annabel Teperson combined for the shutout, while Reimers earned her seventh win.
