Postseason Run Comes To End in Regional Final

Cal Falls To No. 2 Oklahoma In Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – The California softball team (37-21) fell to No. 2 Oklahoma (48-7), 12-1, in the NCAA Norman Regional Final on Sunday at Love's Field.

After making their third straight NCAA tournament appearance, the Golden Bears advance to championship Sunday after going 2-1 through the first two days of the Norman Regional, including two shutout victories.

In the rematch against the Sooners, Cal struggled to get a bat on the ball after only registering two hits on the day.

The Sooners quickly got ahead on the scoreboard after recording two home runs in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead.

The Bears responded at the bottom of the second after Mia Phillips knocked in a base hit, forcing the Sooners into a throwing error while Lagi Quiroga raced around the bases to score on the play.

The Sooners took a commanding lead in the fourth inning after scoring eight runs in the frame, highlighted by back-to-back home runs, to take a 12-1 advantage en route to the run-rule victory.

Oklahoma will host the NCAA Super Regional from May 22-25.
