NORMAN, Okla. –The California softball team (36-19) picked up a shutout victory against Omaha (39-12), 1-0, on Friday in the first game of the NCAA Norman Regional at Love's Field.
Annabel Teperson pitched lights out after picking up a two-hit complete game shutout with four strikeouts and one walk on 116 total pitches.
In the tightly contested matchup, the Golden Bears were hit less through three innings.
Cal began to pick up momentum in the fourth inning after Elon Butler found the gap in right-center field for a double. Tianna Bell put the Bears on the scoreboard after knocking in a base hit to bring Butler across home plate.
In the top of the fifth, the Mavericks look to respond after getting two base runners on base after back-to-back errors by Cal. Teperson retired the next two batters to work herself out of the jam, including one strikeout.
Teperson limited Omaha to one for the remainder of the game while retiring six consecutive batters during that span to help Cal secure the 1-0 victory.
