Cal Heads To Stockton For ITA Northwest Regionals
All Eight Golden Bears To Compete at UOP
For the first time this season, the California men's tennis team will feature all eight student-athletes on its roster in the 2025 ITA Division I Men's Northwest Regional Championships, which is set to take place at the University of the Pacific over six days from Thursday to Tuesday. The tournament will include a 64-player singles qualifying draw, a 64-player singles main draw and a 64-team doubles main draw.
Sophomore Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski enters the tournament after an impressive 3-1 singles record at the ITA All-American Championships two weeks ago, while freshman Winston Lee also posted an outstanding 3-1 singles record at last week's Aggie Invitational.
Sophomore Paris Pouatcha, who competed for Oregon at the tournament last year, returns to play after being highlighted as having a 'Transfer Breakout Performance' at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup by College Tennis Nation. He finished the tournament with a 4-0 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record.
Last season, Cal had three players in the singles main draw semifinals with former Golden Bear Carl Emil Overbeck winning the championship. Overbeck teamed up with current assistant coach Theo Dean in the doubles main draw but fell short in the final to a duo from Stanford.
