BERKELEY – The Cal Winter Invitational came to an end Sunday with the host Golden Bears winning 11 of 12 matches under sunny skies at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts.

Cal went 4-0 in doubles and 7-1 in singles on the third day of the annual event.

"It was great to be back at our home facilities at Hellman and Channing after playing in a road tournament last weekend," Cal head coach Amanda Augustus said. "The weather was fantastic – perfect for tennis. We did a pretty good job across the board, in singles definitely. In doubles, we used the opportunity in this individual event to look at some different partnerships as we prepare for the dual season."

In doubles, the pairs of Mao Mushika and Greta Greco Lucchina, Jessica Alsola and Berta Passola Folch, and Lan Mi and Tiziana-Marie Schomburg each posted 6-1 victories over Cal Poly opponents, while the duo of Cami Brown and Sophie Hernandez defeated Juliette Daries and Stefanie Silva of Saint Mary's 6-3.

Cal won all six of its singles matches without losing a set at Hellman and won one of two at Channing. One of those Hellman wins came from Jessica Alsola, who bested Cal Poly's Romane Mosse 6-0, 6-3. The senior captured all three of her singles matches in the Cal Winter Invite after going 2-1 in singles in the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational earlier in January.

"The team is doing really well," Alsola said. "I'm really excited to be part of this team as a senior. Seeing, in my four years here, how much our team has developed has been impressive. And we have a newcomer here in Greta, who's fit in wonderfully. I love the energy everyone gives, and I'm really proud of this team."

The Bears return to the courts when they host Oklahoma, San Diego State and Grand Canyon in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 24 and 25 at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
