The California football team opens the 2024 season Saturday with a 2 p.m. PT kickoff against UC Davis at California Memorial Stadium. The Golden Bears and Aggies will meet for the 12th time in history.

ABOUT THE SERIES
– Saturday will be the 12th all-time meeting between Cal and UC Davis. 
– The Bears lead the series 11-0.
– Cal won the most recent matchup, 34-13, in the season opener in Berkeley on Sept. 3, 2022 
– The teams went 71 seasons without playing each other from 1939 to 2010, but Saturday's matchup will be their fourth meeting in the past 14 campaigns with each of those contests (2010, 2019, 2022, 2024) opening the season for both teams.

FRESHMEN ALL-AMERICAN DUO RETURNS
– Sophomore ILB Cade Uluave and TE Jack Endries were 2023 Freshman All-American picks with Uluave a three-time first-teamer (College Football Network, FWAA, The Athletic). Endries earned first-team recognition from College Football News and second-team honors from The Athletic, in addition to being an honorable mention choice of the College Football Network.
 
LOTS OF NEW FACES
– Cal has added 54 players to its roster since the end of the 2023 season and Cal's 2024 transfer portal class ranked No. 13 nationally according to On3, while the Bears' 24 scholarship transfers were tied for the seventh most in the nation.
– Cal added a total of 28 transfers (24 scholarship, 4 walk-on) since the end of the 2023 season including 22 who have combined to play in 541 football games at four-year schools.
– The 2024 offseason was the second in a row that the team's recruiting class was among the nation's best with the 2023 spring transfer portal class listed by The Athletic as one of its 10 "winners," while also being recognized by On3 (1 of 12 "winners") and 247Sports (No. 17 overall class).
