As a team, the Golden Bears lead the nation in defensive saves (14), and graduate midfielder Canisha van Duyn is responsible for seven of them, which ranks second in the country.

ACC HONORS
On Tuesday, freshman Liz Klompmaker was tabbed as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in both outings against Louisville and Wake Forest, which marked the fifth and sixth times she scored at least two goals in a game this season. The forward is currently tied for second in the conference in both goals (15) and game-winning goals (5) and is fourth in points (31). Klompmaker is the first Golden Bear to earn a conference honor this season.

ACC TOURNAMENT BOUND
The Golden Bears clinched a spot in the 2024 ACC Tournament after defeating Louisville on Friday. The outcome of this week's game against Stanford will determine the seeding before the Bears head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

300 OF THEM
Donna Fong Director of Field Hockey Shellie Onstead earned a career accomplishment after securing her 300th career win in Friday's game against Louisville. The win also marked the Bears' first-ever ACC victory. Freshman Liz Klompmaker poured in two goals in the opening period to give Cal the early lead. The Cardinals found the back of the net late in the first half but couldn't overcome its deficit as the Bears held on to the 2-1 victory.

ABOUT THE CARDINAL
Thursday will mark the end of the regular season for both teams, as Stanford holds an overall record of 7-8 (1-6 ACC) and is riding a two-game winning streak with wins over Indiana and Wake Forest. It will be the 123rd meeting between the two teams and the first as members of the ACC. The Cardinal hold a slight 61-57 advantage with five ties in the series. The two teams met twice last season as they split the season series.

LAST TIME OUT
Cal fell to Wake Forest, 3-2, in double overtime Sunday. Freshman Liz Klompmaker scored her first goal at the 25:43 mark to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead. In the final minute of the first half, Wake Forest scored the game-tying goal to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime. Klompmaker broke the tie early in the third period as she found the back of the net for the 15th time of the season. The Bears held the advantage for most of the fourth quarter until the Deacs scored a goal in the final three minutes to force overtime. After the game made its way to double overtime, Wake Forest only needed two minutes to secure the game-winning goal after its first shot attempt was unsuccessful.

30 FOR ONSTEAD
Shellie Onstead is in her 30th season as the Donna Fong Director of Field Hockey. Onstead has a career record of 300-240 and has guided the Bears to 12 conference championships. She is a six-time NorPac Coach of the Year and has led Cal to six NCAA Tournament appearances. Onstead served as an assistant coach for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team and was inducted into the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982. Onstead played at Cal from 1980-82 and was the program's first All-America player.
