BERKELEY – Quinnlyn Mason registered a hat trick to lead 13 different goal scorers in Cal's 17-1 win over Howard on a rainy afternoon at California Memorial Stadium.
Caroline Roxas and
Avery Hoeft each matched Mason's three points with one goal and two assists. Five Cal players added a pair of points with
Kennedy Goss and
Belle Tiesi picking up two goals apiece, while
Mya Wang and
Courtney Wong each had one goal and one assist, and
Kennedy Mason two assists.
"Today was a great overall team performance, but it was much more than a lacrosse game," head coach
Jennifer Wong said. "Being able to partner with Howard and play in front of the local lacrosse clubs and schools was amazing. It was a wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to be playing this sport at Cal and how we can impact the next generation of female lacrosse players."
Cal had 27 different players see action in the contest and played all three of its goalkeepers with
Alicia Souliotis picking up the victory and recording one save without allowing a goal over the first 19:40.
Riley Drullinger logged the most goalie minutes with 25:20 and allowed the only Howard goal, while
Chloe Rand had pair of saves in her 15:00 between the pipes.
Cal returns to action Sunday when the Bears host American in a non-conference game at California Memorial Stadium (Noon PST).
