Golden Bears Out Of Action Until Hosting USC On March 31

BOULDER – California lacrosse completed its two-game Pac-12 road trip on Sunday at Kittredge Field by falling against Colorado, 20-3. The Buffs scored the first seven goals of the contest and the Golden Bears did not get on the board until Courtney Wong connected on an assist from Amanda Morse with 7:35 to go in the second period.

The Bears had traveled to Boulder from Eugene on Saturday after a thrilling 13-12 win at Oregon on Friday evening.

Ashley Stokes led nine different Colorado (3-4, 2-0 Pac-12) goal scorers with game highs of four goals and six points along with a game-high-tying two assists. Sam McGee, Charlie Rudy and Liz Phillips each added had tricks with Rudy also tackling on a game-high-tying pair of assists. Zoe McElhaney and Madeline Pisani picked up a pair of goals each with Pisani also registering an assist. Lily Assini, Mary Carson and Rachel Kennedy had one goal apiece, while Sophie Halus tallied an assist.

Amanda Morse added a goal for the Bears (3-6, 1-2) when she scored unassisted with 3:30 to go in the second period, while Maya Lawliss got on the board with 5:22 remaining in the third on an assist from Quinnlyn Mason.

Alicia Souliotis played the first three quarters in goal for the Bears and allowed 15 goals with nine saves, while Riley Drullinger gave up five goals with two saves in the final period.

Colorado doubled Cal, 18-9, in the key category of draw controls and also held sizeable advantages in shots (36-13), shots on goal (31-9), ground balls (16-9) and caused turnovers (7-0). The entire second half and last 1:23 before intermission were played with a running clock as Colorado maintained a 10-goal advantage.

Cal will be out of action for 12 days until hosting No. 18 USC (6-2, 1-0) on March 31 at California Memorial Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. PDT and the matchup will be streamed on Cal Live Stream-3.
