CALIFORNIA VISITS NO. 15 STANFORD WEDNESDAY FOR PAC-12 OPENER
— Cal opens Pac-12 action by visiting Stanford on Wednesday with the conference opener its earliest Pac-12 opener ever and its earliest conference opener of any type since opening its 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation slate against UC Davis on Feb. 13
— Stanford has won 20 in a row over the Golden Bears overall and 17 straight in the series at Stanford with the last Cal win coming in Berkeley in 2008 and the last Cal and only Bears victory at Stanford in the first season of the Cal program in 1999  
— Wednesday's weather in Stanford calls for clear skies with a temperature of 51 at first draw, dipping into the mid-high 40's during the game, and light westerly winds

MAYA LAWLISS NAMED PAC-12 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
— Maya Lawliss became the first Cal player in the history of the program to be named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week when the first honor of the 2023 season was announced on Tuesday
— Lawliss combined for eight goals on 13 shots and 12 shots on goal in two contests last week, including a career-high six goals on seven shots in a 17-9 season-opening victory at Lindenwood on Friday

GOLDEN BEARS SPLIT FIRST TWO GAMES LAST WEEK
— Cal started its season with a split in two road games last week, as the Golden Bears were 17-9 winners in their season opener at Lindenwood on Friday for their first season-opening win since 2018, before the Bears fell in a neutral-site game to Central Michigan also played at Lindenwood on Sunday
— In addition to Maya Lawliss' eight goals, the Golden Bears multiple goals from Mya Wang (6), Amanda Morse (5), Kennedy Mason (4), Quinnlyn Mason (2), while Cal got one apiece from Elle Anhut, Josie Lillquist, Charlotte Smith and Courtney Wong
— Quinnlyn Mason and Kate Rothman co-lead the Bears with three assists each while Amanda Morse and Mya Wang have contributed one apiece
— The goals for Anhut, Lillquest, Smith, Wang and Wong were the first of their collegiate careers  
— Riley Drullinger was the starting goalkeeper and the goalkeeper of record in both games with 12 saves and allowing 16 goals against, while Alicia Souliotis played in both contests and has eight goals against and seven saves
— The season opener at Lindenwood was played in front of 1,077 fans that witnessed the home team play its first game as a Division I program after moving up from the Division III ranks

FIRST-YEAR HEAD COACH JENNIFER WONG
— First-year head coach Jennifer Wong was a winner in her Cal debut last Friday in the Golden Bears' 17-9 victory at Lindenwood
— Wong is the fifth head coach in Cal history following Jill Malko (1999-2007), Theresa Sherry (2008-11), Ginger Miles (2012-14) and Brooke Eubanks (2015-22)
— Wong spent 14 seasons over two stints on the coaching staff at Temple (2008-09, 2011-22) including the last seven campaigns as the Owls' associate head coach (2016-22)

TEAM CAPTAINS
— Seniors Brooke Baker, Olivia Dey, Quinnlyn Mason and Amanda Morse are serving as 2023 team captains, with Mason as a team captain for the second straight campaign while each of the other three serving for the first time 

25 YEARS OF CAL LACROSSE
— Cal is celebrating the 25th season of women's lacrosse in 2023 with the program first gaining intercollegiate status in 1999 as a member of the Western Women's Lacrosse League
— The Bears joined the Mountain Pacific Lacrosse League in 2002, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in 2004 and the Pac-12 in 2018  
— Highlights have included a 2004 MPSF title with a victory over Stanford and a Pac-12 Championship win against Arizona State in the second year of the event in 2019
