Bears Return Home To Face UC Davis
Cal Defeated UC Davis In The 2018 Opener
BERKELEY - The California women's lacrosse team is in the midst of a stretch of playing four of five games on the road. This week, the Golden Bears get a travel break to face UC Davis in Berkeley on Friday at 5 p.m. from Memorial Stadium. Cal defeated UC Davis in the 2018 opener in Davis.
The Bears are 19-14 all-time vs. UC Davis, and Cal has won the last two meetings.
Last week, Cal jumped out to early leads in both of last week's games against Fresno State and San Diego State, but lost both, falling to the Bulldogs, 15-14, and the Aztecs, 13-9.
Eliza Christman paces the Bears in scoring with nine points each (7 goals, 2 assists),
Caroline Corzel and
Kirsten Swanson are right behind her with eight points each. Swanson posted a hat trick last weekend against Fresno State and scored twice vs. SDSU.
Christman's 18 draws also are tops on her squad with
Marisa Kuberra next with 16.
Jenny Wilkens notched 10 saves against Denver, and now boasts 20 career games with double-digit saves. She also leads her squad with 15 ground balls through four games this season. Her 134 career ground balls rank second in school history.
Defensively,
Kendall Swenson has caused a team-leading eight turnovers.
Cal ventures on its East Coast road trip next week, facing George Washington on Friday, March 1, and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, March 3.
