Bears Clobber Chippewas
• After almost pulling off an upset victory against No. 14 Syracuse two days earlier, Cal left no doubt when the Golden Bears defeated Central Michigan, 8-1, last Sunday. The eight goals were a season-best for the Bears. Cal out shot Central Michigan, 30-3. Six different Bears scored, including two each from
Megan Rodgers and
Katrina Carter, while
Monica Arteaga tallied the first goal of her collegiate career. Carter and Rodgers combined to score the first four goals of the game.

Carter has caught fire after missing the first two games of the season due to injury. In the Cal record book, Rodgers currently ranks fourth in career goals (36) and ninth in career points (75).
Cal Comes Close Against Syracuse
• No. 14 Syracuse prevailed in double overtime last Friday in a thriller at Underhill Field. The Bears forced overtime after
Katrina Carter tied the game midway through the fourth quarter. The Golden Bears got off to a fast start, with
Megan Rodgers opening the scoring just 28 seconds into the game.
