HAMDEN, Conn. – Cal's underclassmen lifted the Golden Bears to a fourth-straight win as 
Megan Rodgers and 
Gabi Jimenez combined to score all three goals in field hockey's victory over Fairfield at the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on Saturday. The Bears downed the Stags, 3-1, to improve to 5-3 with the non-conference win.
 
For the third time in four games, Rodgers tallied multiple goals, sending two shots into the cage successfully against the Stags. Heading into the weekend, she ranked eighth in the country in goals per game (1.00) and now has nine goals on the season.
 
Jimenez helped Cal to the gamewinner, tallying her third goal of the season and assisting on Rodgers' second goal for three points on the day. 
Janaye Sakkas and 
Lindsay Mathison also earned assists.
 
Rodgers got the Bears on the board first after Sakkas dished her a ball in the 20th minute, but a successful penalty corner play by the Stags helped Emma Matlach tally the equalizer. At halftime, the teams were locked up, 1-1.
 
Jimenez gave Cal the go-ahead at 52:46 with a shot from the right corner after a pass by Mathison, and Rodgers put the game away for good with a dribble along the goal line in the 59th minute.
 
Cal outshot Fairfield 18-8 despite the Stags' edge, 4-3, in corners.
 
Golden Bear goalkeeper 
Danielle Mentink logged four saves in another complete-game effort, improving to 5-2 in the cage this season.
