BERKELEY -- For the first time since Cal field hockey joined the America East conference, the Golden Bears will head east for a pair of regular-season league matchups. Cal will take on East Division opponents Vermont and Maine in Orono, Maine at the UMained Field Hockey Complex beginning Saturday.

The weekend kicks off with a contest against the Catamounts on Saturday at 8 a.m. PT and follows with the Cal vs. Maine matchup on Sunday at the same time. Live stats for both games will be available at GoBlackBears.com, and Maine will also stream its match against Cal on Sunday.

FAST FACTS


• Janaye Sakkas is one goal away from matching her season-high total of seven that she set as a freshman.

• Though Cal last faced Maine in the regular season in 2013, the Golden Bears also took on the Black Bears in 2015, in their inaugural game at the America East conference tournament. Maine won 2-1 in overtime.

• Against Stanford, Lexi Collins tallied her first assist of the season, feeding Melina Moore the ball on a penalty corner.

• Cal's penalty shootout with Stanford was its first since the Bears lost to Pacific, 2-1, in a stroke-off on Oct. 28, 2015.

• Landon Warren leads the Catamounts with eight goals for 16 points.
• Carla Godsman, Tess O'Brien and Anne-Marie Farmer have each notched four goals this season.
• Lauren Tucker owns a team-best six assists, followed by Godsman's four assists.
• Lena Benwood has earned all 13 starts in the cage with a 3.22 goals against average on 41 goals in just over 891 minutes.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS

• Series: Maine leads, 1-2
• Three different Black Bears have tallied 20 points or more this season -- Madison Cummings (23 points), Casey Crowley (21 points) and Samantha Wagg (20 points). Libby Reidl (17 points) and Danielle Aviani (16 points) are not far behind.
• Cummings' 11 goals are a team-high, and Wagg has eight goals.
• Ella Mosky and Riedl have nine assists each.
• Seven different Black Bears have notched four or more assists this season.
• Emma Cochran has made 13 appearances in goal with seven starts for 527 minutes. She has 24 saves and a 1.73 goals against average.
• Emily Corbett has seen 385 minutes in the cage in 11 appearances and six starts. She has a 2.0 goals against average and 11 goals allowed.
