BERKELEY - With today's 73-14 California win, the Golden Bears have now won 12 of their last 14 home openers. Since 2002, Cal is now 10-4 in season openers and 75-42-2 all-time in season openers. The 73 points scored rank second in school modern-era history.

The 52 first-half points were the most in a half in school modern-era history, surpassing the previous record of 51 against Pacific in 1991. The 35 points in the first quarter tied the school record for the most points in a quarter (Baylor, 2002). In the last calendar year, this marks the third time in which the Bears have scored 28 or more points in a quarter (Washington State and Sacramento State both in 2014).

Kenny Lawler was Cal's leading receiver with six catches for 69 yards and three touchdowns. Now with 17 career touchdowns, he ranks tied for seventh all-time at Cal with Keenan Allen. Dating back to last season, Lawler has scored six touchdowns in his last two games. Today was Lawler's sixth career multi-touchdown performance, and the third time that he has tied the school record for touchdown receptions in a single game. He also had three receiving touchdowns against Arizona in 2013 and BYU in 2014. It was the 15th time in school history that a Cal player has caught three touchdown passes in a game. Lawler has caught a pass in every game he's played at Cal (25). He also added his first career rushing attempt, good for 10 yards.  

Jared Goff completed 24 of 32 passes for 309 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Goff garnered his 16th career multi-passing touchdown performance today, and his 11th game of notching at least three touchdown passes. Goff's 56 career passing touchdowns are second in school history. Now with 7,790 career passing yards, Goff remains third all-time in school history. Kyle Boller is second with 7,980. Goff also notched his 13th 300-yard passing performance and his 18th 250-yard passing performance, both school records.

Cameron Walker notched his second career interception in the first quarter and he returned it for his first career touchdown. Walker later added his first career sack in the second half. The last time a Cal defender returned an interception for a touchdown was Marc Anthony against Southern Utah in 2012. Devante Downs notched his first career interception and returned it for a 13-yard touchdown. The last time Cal had two turnovers returned for touchdowns in the same game was against Colorado in 2010. The last time Cal had two turnovers returned for touchdowns in a season was in 2011.

The last time the Cal defense forced five turnovers was against UCLA in 2012.

Daniel Lasco scored his 16th career rushing touchdown on the first drive of the season, tying him for 10th on the Cal career rushing touchdown list. He has now scored a rushing touchdown in eight of his last nine games.

Marcus Manley recorded his first career sack, Darius Allensworth and Luke Rubenzer notched their first career interceptions, and Matt Rockett blocked his first career punt.

Bryce Treggs has caught a pass in 33 of the last 34 games that he has played in and his last 27 contests in a row.

The last time Cal had at least 12 different players catch a pass was against USC in 2013.

Making his collegiate debut, Matt Anderson made his lone field goal attempt.

Darius Allensworth, Dominic Granado, James Looney and Devante Wilson made their first career starts.  

Today's attendance of 60,606 was the most since 2013 against Ohio State (62,467).
