Cal-Washington Postgame Notes
With today's 30-24 Cal win, the Golden Bears have improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2007 and for the third time since 1996 (also 2005). Today's win also marked the first victory over Washington since 2008, and the first win in Seattle since 2005.
Jared Goff tied the school record for career touchdown passes, now with 64 and matching the mark of 64 by Kyle Boller (1999-2002). Now with 8,721 career passing yards, he owns that record, as well. Goff completed 24-of-40 passes for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns. He garnered his 19th career multi-passing touchdown performance. He also recorded his 21st 250-yard passing performance and his 15th 300-yard performance, both school records. On the season, Goff has completed 92 of his 133 attempts for 1,240 yards. His touchdown-to-interception ratio this season is 11-3.
RB Vic Enwere has scored five touchdowns in the first four games, including one today. He led Cal in rushing with 23 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown.
WR Kenny Lawler has caught a pass in every game he's played at Cal (27). His 52-yard reception in the third quarter was the longest of his career. With Lawler's TD catch today, he now has 19 for his career, which ranks seventh all-time at Cal. Geoff McArthur is sixth with 20.
DE Kyle Kragen had his first multi-sack performance of his career with 2.5 on the day. Cal entered the game ranked second in the Pac-12 and tied for 25th in the nation in sacks. Kragen ended the day with 6 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. The Bears finished with 5 sacks on the day. Individually, Jake Kearney added a sack and Jonathan Johnson had 1.5.
Cameron Walker picked up a six-yard tackle for loss. He leads the team in tackles for loss now with 3.5 on the year.
The Bears have recorded at least one interception in every game this season and have 8 on the season. Cal entered the game tied for first in the nation in interceptions.
Cal's defense forced 5 turnovers on the day – interceptions by Darius White and Damariay Drew and fumble recoveries by Hardy Nickerson, Devante Downs and Darius White.
Darius Powe notched career highs in receptions (6) and receiving yards (79).
Cal scored 24 unanswered points during a stretch today. The Bears also scored 35 unanswered points vs. San Diego State, 31 at Texas and 66 against Grambling State.
Bryce Treggs has caught a pass in 36 of the last 37 games that he has played in and his last 30 contests in a row.
PK Matt Anderson kicked three fields (32, 41, 37) – equaling his total for the year entering the game. He has made four in a row and is 5-for-7 on the season.
