Cal ends its season with a 5-7 overall record and 3-6 conference mark to finish fourth in the Pac-12 North. The team's four-game turnaround was its biggest since the 2002 squad was 7-5 overall after the 2001 squad. Cal played seven bowl-eligible opponents in 2014.
Cal set the school single-season record for team passing yards with 4,152, breaking the previous record of 3,977 set in 2013. The Bears also set school records for points (459) and touchdowns (61) in the modern era that were second all-time behind the 1920 team, who scored 510 points and 72 touchdowns. In addition, Cal tied modern-era records for points after touchdown (56) and points after touchdown attempted (57).
Jared Goff extended his school single-season record for passing yards by finishing the season with 3,973. He also finished with 35 touchdown passes in 2014, surpassing Pat Barnes' record of set in 1996 during the season finale against BYU. Both rank seventh all-time in the Pac-12 single-season rankings. Goff's 53 career passing touchdowns are fourth in school history. Now with 7,481 career passing yards, Goff moved up to third all-time in school history. Goff also notched his 12th 300-yard passing performance and his 17th 250-yard passing performance, both school records. Goff ended Saturday's game against BYU with a career-high 38 on 60 attempts for 393 yards and four touchdowns. He garnered his 15th career multi-passing touchdown performance and his 10th game of notching at least three touchdown passes.
Daniel Lasco became the first Cal player since Isi Sofele in 2011 to rush for 1,000 yards. Lasco ended the 2014 campaign with 1,115 rushing yards. He had his fifth career 100-yard rushing game (all in 2014) against BYU with 26 carries for 130 yards. His strings of 10 consecutive games with a touchdown and seven straight with a rushing score both came to an end. Lasco finished the season with 12 rushing touchdowns to rank tied for ninth on Cal's all-time single-season list and 14 touchdowns overall.
Kenny Lawler hauled in a Cal single-game record-tying three touchdowns (all in the first half), giving him 14 for his career and nine this season. The 14 career touchdowns rank ninth all-time at Cal, while is nine receiving touchdowns in 2014 are tied for fifth on Cal's single-season list with Bobby Shaw (1996) and DeSean Jackson (2006). It was the 14th time in school history that a Cal player has caught three touchdown passes in a game and the second time for Lawler, who also had three receiving touchdowns in 2013 against Arizona. Sean Dawkins caught three TDs in a game three times and Steve Sweeney also did it twice. Lawler ended the game with career highs in receptions (12) and yards (138) with the 12 receptions a Cal team season high and tied for 10th on the school's all-time single game list. It was also Lawler's first career 100-yard receiving performance as well as his third multi-receiving touchdown performance of the season and fifth of his career.
Bryce Treggs caught a pass for the 26th straight game and now has a reception in 32 of 33 career contests over his first three seasons. Treggs had six receptions for 51 yards against BYU.
Chris Harper hauled in eight receptions for 98 yards. Now with 159 career receptions, Harper ranks eighth on Cal's career receptions list.
Caleb Coleman recorded his second career interception.
Stefan McClure picked up his second career fumble recovery and returned in 22 yards.
For the second straight game, Mustafa Jalil notched a career-best in tackles with eight today.
Tre Watson scored his first career touchdown on a nine-yard run in the third quarter.
Today's game marked the final appearance in a Cal uniform for 12 seniors – OL Chris Adcock, DT Austin Clark, OL Alejandro Crosthwaite, OL Donovan Frazer, FB Lucus Gingold, QB Austin Hinder, PK James Langford, S Michael Lowe, FS Bryce McGovern, LS John Sheperdson, WR Drake Whitehurst and DE Harrison Wilfley.
