Bears Fall as Main Draws Open at All-American

TULSA, Okla. – California lost in singles and doubles as the main draws began on Thursday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Playing indoors due to rain, Cal's Andre Goransson fell in the singles opening round of 64, while the seventh-ranked pair of Gregory Bayane and Chase Melton fell to Texas A&M's 37th-ranked Jeremy Efferding & Jordan Szabo.

Goransson, a sophomore, dropped a 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 result to Duke's Nicolas Alvarez. The senior team of Melton and Bayane – seeded 5-8 in the tournament – lost 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(8) to the Aggies.

Bayane and Melton will play in consolation doubles on Friday.
