One of the Pac-10's premier running backs entering the 2004 season after emerging last fall as one of the better second-string backs in the nation . churned out a Pac-10-leading 5.7 yards per rush last season (tied with Arizona State's Loren Wade), netting 607 yards on 107 carries in 13 games as league's No. 10 rusher . also caught 21 passes for 178 yards and scored eight touchdowns (5 rushing, 3 receiving) . coming off the bench in the Insight Bowl, he led the Bears in rushing with 37 yards on 11 carries and also snagged five passes for 38 yards, including a clutch 13-yard touchdown strike from Aaron Rodgers with 30 seconds left before halftime that sliced Virginia Tech's lead to 28-21 at intermission . transferred to Cal after two stellar seasons in the JC ranks at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita . 2003 . averaged 13.2 yards per carry in shredding Washington's defense for 185 yards and one touchdown on only 14 attempts in his second-ever Cal start in place of regular tailback Adimchinobe Echemandu (knee). despite limited playing time, was fourth on the team in scoring with 48 points . his 185-yard display vs. Washington tied fellow teammate Terrell Williams (185 at Rutgers, 2001) for the 15th greatest rushing day in Cal history . included in that outburst were jaunts of 68 and 51 yards, as he blazed to 157 yards on 10 carries in the first half . the 68-yard run was the longest by a Cal player since Joe Igber raced 80 yards against Arizona State in 2000 . also caught a 30-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers in the rout over UW, giving him 215 total yards of offense . prior to that Washington explosion, enjoyed two other big outings, rushing for 114 yards on 16 attempts in Cal's 34-2 romp over Southern Mississippi, and galloping for 92 yards and two TDs on 11 carries in the Bears' 42-14 conquest of Arizona . had a career-long 32-yard catch at Arizona State . also snared two touchdown passes (22 and 7 yards) in the season opener against Kansas State.

Listed as the 46th best junior college player in the country by SuperPrep magazine . named to the 2002 All-Region 3 Team by the California Community College Football Coaches Association and JC Athletic Bureau . rushed for 769 yards and 19 touchdowns in only 135 carries as a sophomore, while also catching 30 passes for 320 yards and four additional TDs . his 19 rushing TDs in 2002 and 29 career rushing scores during his two-year stint were both school records ... also set or tied school marks for touchdowns in a game (5, twice) and season (23), and points in a game (30, twice), season (138) and career (198) . originally from Rocky Mount, N.C., where he played at Northern Nash High School ... born Jan. 23, 1983 . social welfare major.
