A powerful fullback who has been in the starting lineup for most of the past two seasons ... has shown flashes of dominance, but hasn't been healthy enough to develop any real consistency ... is at his best in short-yardage or blocking situations ... has played in the 250-pound range the past two years, although he may be most effective if he can get closer to 240 pounds ... also catches the ball surprisingly well for a player with only one operable eye ... missed the entire spring session while concentrating on his academics.

1998: started the season strongly, but went down in the first half of the Oklahoma game with a badly sprained knee ... was on the shelf for a month before returning four games later against UCLA ... finished the year with just 67 yards on 27 carries ... best game came at Oregon State when he registered 20 yards on three carries ... also ended the year with 14 receptions for 93 yards ... had four catches for 37 yards in the season-opener vs. Houston to go along with 16 yards on six carries against the Cougars.

1997: was Cal's leading rusher in his first game, carrying the ball nine times for a season-high 48 yards, including a 5-yard TD run, at Houston...carried the ball 10 times for 39 yards at UCLA and 10 times for 41 yards at Arizona...also had two receptions for nine yards versus the Wildcats.

Junior College/High School/Personal: Was a late addition to Cal's recruiting group in 1997 as he signed with the Bears as a sophomore in late June after earning his A.A. degree in five quarters at Snow JC in Ephraim, UT...had an impressive freshman season while leading Snow JC to a 10-1 record and the Western States Football League title...carried the ball 142 times for 619 yards (4.4 average) and nine TDs in 1996...also caught 33 passes for 352 yards (10.7 average) and an additional TD...was named the Offensive MVP of the 1996 Midwest Bowl in Chicago ... attended a pair of high schools in Honolulu, where he lived for six years, beginning in seventh grade...played at Radford HS, but moved to Ferrington HS for his senior year after the military transferred his stepfather to North Carolina...earned first team all-state honors as a running back...originally was recruited and signed with BYU out of high school, but elected to attend Snow JC and work on his academics....opted for Cal after also considering Arizona State...he and his wife, Ginger, had their first child (daughter Imani) on Sept. 24, 1997...is blind in his left eye from a childhood accident when he was one, but it hasn't affected his athletic career...comes from a military family...spent his first 10 years of his life in Texas and then one year in Washington, before moving to Hawaii...parents now reside in North Carolina...parents are Emmanuel Moten and Sarah D. Moten...born March 8, 1977 in Galveston, TX.
