Cal finishes its season with a 21-12 record. The Bears are 20-18 in their history the NCAA Tournament and 4-8 in second games in NCAA play.
Cal held opponents to less than 40 percent shooting in six of its last eight games. Syracuse shot 39.1 percent Saturday night.
Allen Crabbe finished with eight points to give him 607 points on the season, which ranks seventh in school history. He has a career total of 1,537 points, which is 10th at Cal.
Crabbe made two three-pointers to move up to a tie for fifth on Cal's season list with 64. He also holds the No. 2 (83 in 2012) and No. 7 (62 in 2011) positions.
Richard Solomon set career highs with 22 points and 14 rebounds vs. Syracuse. The 14 rebounds were a high for a Cal player this year; David Kravish had 13 vs. both UCLA and Creighton.
Solomon also reached double figures in back-to-back games for the first time since UCLA Feb. 14 and USC Feb. 17. For the two NCAA Tournament games, he averaged 16.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg.
Robert Thurman, who was 6-for-6, from the floor vs. UNLV Thursday, made his first three shots against Syracuse before his first miss. Over his last 10 games, Thurman has made 22-of-30 from the field.
Freshman Tyrone Wallace finished the game with 12 points after totaling just 7 in his previous three games.
With 2 blocks, Cal extended its school season record to 154.
