Stanford Tops Cal in NorPac Final

For the fourth consecutive season, the California field hockey team fell to Stanford in the final of the NorPac Tournament, this time by a score of 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Davidson, N.C. Senior Lisa Lohre and junior Erin Magill each recorded defensive saves to keep Cal in the game.
Stanford's Becky Dru scored both Stanford goals. Dru tallied the first on a penalty stroke in the 11th minute. Just six minutes later, Dru posted her second score with the assist going to Xanthe Travlos.
The Bears struggled offensively, managing only three shots and two shots on goal. Magill and senior Megan Psyllos recorded Cal's two shots on goal.
Junior Maddie Hand made six saves in the cage for Cal (10-9).
Stanford (14-5) earned six penalty corners to Cal's two.
Sophomore Deanna Kennedy and freshman Shannon Elmitt were each named to the all-tournament team.
While it won't be official until the NCAA Tournament selections are announced next week, Saturday's loss likely marked the end of the season for the Bears.
